Hobart's 1st Legislative Luncheon of Year a Huge Success
Hobart's 1st Legislative Luncheon of 2016 was a huge success! Over 30 members of the community attended the March 25th luncheon and heard from three of the area's legislature.

The first speaker was Steve Carson, field representative for U.S. Senator James Lankford (R). Mr. Carson spoke about a bill Senator Lankford is sponsoring named Rural Emergency Acute Care Hospital Act, or REACH Act for short. He also gave an update on the Annual Deficit Spending and stated it is now around $462 Billion, which is half of what it was 7 years ago.

State Representative David Perryman (D) was the next speaker. Mr Perryman focused on school consolidation, anti-public education bills, and the current tax policy.

State Representative Todd Russ (R) was the last speaker. Mr. Russ quoted figures on state funding for public education, the ripple-effect of the current oil and gas industry downturn, and Medicaid expansion.

Each legislature answered questions from attendees and even spoke with constituents after the luncheon was over.

The Legislative Luncheons are always a great way to see and hear from local state legislatures. The next luncheon is scheduled for Friday, April 29th at Cocina de Mi Pueblo at 11:30 a.m.
